If you’ve designed a stunning bathroom, you may find that your toilet causes you a major disappointment if all the pipework can be seen, spoiling its overall appearance. This problem can easily be solved, though, with back to wall toilet units.

A back to wall toilet encases the unattractive components of your toilet in a stylish modern casing, leaving only the pan on display. As there are lots of different back to wall toilet unit styles, you’re sure to find one that works perfectly in your bathroom. WC units allow you to make your toilet an integral part of your space rather than hiding it as best as possible in the corner!

Back To Wall Toilet Units

A WC unit, or Back to Wall toilet unit is one of the latest additions to the bathroom furniture product range. They are becoming increasingly popular with homeowners too, since they’re far tidier than a close coupled toilet, and create a more designer look for the bathroom.

It’s also very easy to replace an existing close coupled toilet with a back to wall toilet and WC unit, making them a great choice not only for brand new bathrooms and complete renovations but also for bathroom refreshes. But are back to wall toilet units a good idea? Read on and find out.

How do they work?

With a back to wall toilet unit, all of the toilet’s pipework goes through the WC unit, with the cistern going inside it too, hiding it from view. The back to wall toilet pan fit flush against the unit, creating a seamless and stylish look.

What different types of WC unit are there?

There are three different types of WC unit:

  • Standard units are typically the same depth as the vanity unit in the same range. Therefore, they’re ideal for using side by side for a coordinated bathroom look.
  • Slimline units are, as you can guess from the name, slimmer than a standard unit in order to reduce the amount of floor space they take up in compact rooms. Typically, they’re 200mm in depth.
  • Combination units have a basin sitting on top of the unit, keeping everything in one convenient unit for the smallest bathrooms and cloakrooms.

WC Unit Styles

All of our furniture ranges include a WC unit, so it’s a breeze to find one that matches your chosen vanity unit. Standard WC units are gloss white, but there are plenty of other options to pick from including elaborate designs and traditional-style units.

What else do I need to know?

When you’re buying a WC unit for your bathroom, choose a concealed cistern that features either a matt black or a brushed brass button that will match your taps for a cohesive, streamlined aesthetic.

If you’re keen to choose a comfort height toilet, you’ll need to remember that you’ll have to choose a low height cistern in order to fit it inside the WC unit.
